Governing Board Meeting

Members present: Dan Wildermuth, Luke Johnson, Doug Nagel, Dallas Roskamp, Chris Hollingsworth, Bryan Breitling, Avera Regional Administrator, Erica Peterson, Vice President Partner Operations, Sandy Schlechter; COO/CFO, Brad Burris; CEO, and Denise Solma, Executive Assistant.

Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Luke Johnson at 1:00pm.

Agenda was approved by Wildermuth and 2’d by Hollingsworth.

May 26, 2026, Minutes were approved with a motion by Nagel and 2’d by Wildermuth.

Plant Operations Report-Pete Swanson, Facility Manager, gave an update that he has met with Wold in regard to the heating/cooling systems on 2’d floor. The Dietary Department is in the process of putting things back into the kitchen, getting menus approved along with new tray equipment. Light fixtures are being worked on right now at the Hospice House. Pete is working to have Wold finalize a AC/heating plan for the Hospice House along with landscaping details. Avera IT has completed wireless access points. Our 1013, 716 and 718 houses will be getting some needed repair with AC/Furnaces. Elevator #3 is out of commission while we wait for parts. Unfortunately, it could take 7-8 weeks to get them.

Financial Report- by Sandy Schlechter; COO/CFO shared with the Board that April was a good month. ER visits remain up. Swing beds are up, unfortunately Clinic visits are down. A motion from Hollingsworth and 2’d by Wildermuth approved the financial report subject to audit. Sandy shared news that she would be summitting the Rural Health Transformation Program Grant later today.

Medical Staff Appointment/Reappointments-A motion by Wildermuth approved the Physician Reappointments. The motion was 2’d by Nagel. Motion approved.

Human Resources Monthly Report-Judy Raschke, HR Director shared PCMC is currently looking for fifteen people to fill our current positions. For the month of May, we had eighty-four applicants for various openings and filled one position. Our DISC assessments are being completed by all staff. We had a 96% completion rate for staff which was great. HR will be getting a new payroll system starting next month. This will be the same program as Avera uses.

Clinic Update-Amy Nelson, Clinic Manager, was unable to attend.

Nursing Report-Jessica Smidt, Chief Nursing Officer, was unable to attend.

Administrator’s Report-Brad Burris shared Epic will go live this weekend. PCMC has a variety of morale boosters planned for staff. The Operating Room /Sterile Processing Project meeting on May 14th went well with state reviewers. 2026 Minnesota Legislative session brough HCMC stabilization, CAH Medicaid reimbursement changes, we wait to see how this could affect us. A $50,000 one-time payment to every CAH could be coming our way. 3408 contract pharmacy enforcement legislation failed.

McKennan Update- Bryan Breitling, Avera Regional Administrator also brings information on EPIC training. And the Avera My Chart. Also, a reminder that June 30th is just around the corner, which will be the end of our fiscal year. So, preparations for that are underway.
