Rock Steady Boxing
A specialized fitness program for individuals with Parkinson’s disease
Living with Parkinson’s disease can present daily challenges, but exercise has proven to be one of the most effective tools for maintaining strength, mobility, and independence. That’s why Pipestone County Medical Center is proud to offer Rock Steady Boxing, a specialized fitness program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.
Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact, boxing-inspired exercise program that helps participants improve balance, coordination, agility, strength, and overall fitness. More importantly, the program targets many of the movement and neurological challenges associated with Parkinson’s, helping participants stay active and engaged in their daily lives.
Led by certified coaches and supported by PCMC therapy professionals, each class incorporates a variety of exercises designed to challenge both the body and mind. Workouts may include heavy bag drills, focus mitt exercises, ladder work, jump rope, core strengthening, light resistance training, and other functional fitness activities. Every exercise is adapted to meet the individual needs and abilities of participants.
One of the greatest strengths of the program is its accessibility. No boxing experience is required, and participants of all fitness levels are welcome. Before joining a class, individuals complete an evaluation with PCMC therapy staff to determine the most appropriate class level and ensure a safe, effective experience.
Beyond the physical benefits, Rock Steady Boxing provides something equally valuable—a supportive community. Participants encourage one another, celebrate successes together, and build friendships that often extend beyond the gym. The camaraderie and accountability created through the program help many participants stay motivated and committed to their health goals.
Rock Steady Boxing classes are held every Monday and Wednesday at Pipestone County Medical Center.
