Emergency Care Dr. Thomas Chapa serves as the ER Director at Pipestone County Medical Center. Hailing from a rural town in Western Maryland, Dr. Chapa’s early fascination with science led him toward medicine, where he saw the potential to merge scientific understanding with patient care. Initially trained as a family physician, Dr. Chapa’s passion for the diagnostic aspects of medicine guided him toward specializing in emergency medicine.
Dr. Chapa has practiced medicine internationally, contributed to public health initiatives, and gained valuable insights within the Mayo Clinic system, working in urgent care and emergency room settings. He dedicated his expertise to serving various medical facilities across Southwest Minnesota for a decade before coming to PCMC.
Dr. Chapa believes in close listening and individualized interactions. He strongly emphasizes forging a collaborative relationship with his patients, working together to uncover the root causes of medical concerns.
Dr. Chapa appreciates the opportunity to connect with his patients, even during the busiest times. He believes these genuine interactions help to alleviate patients’ apprehension about emergency medical care.
