Rock Steady Boxing 5K Raises Nearly $7,500 for Parkinson’s Program at PCMC

The second annual Rock Steady Boxing 5K Fun Run/Walk united community members, volunteers, and program participants in a strong show of support for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. Hosted by Pipestone County Medical Center’s Rock Steady Boxing program, the event combined fitness, fellowship, and fundraising to sustain and expand local programming.

Kim Uilk, Lead Trainer for Rock Steady Boxing, expressed gratitude for the turnout and for the continued community partnership.

“A heartfelt thank you to our Rock Steady Boxing participants, volunteers, and community businesses,” Uilk said. “Your support and dedication during the RSB 5K event raised $7,487, with approximately 100 participants.” She added that the funds will have a meaningful impact on the program’s future. “These donations will help to fund new equipment, a field trip to Sioux Falls for rock climbing, and the RSB CoachCon continuing education seminar. This support makes the program possible and helps build a strong community where individuals with Parkinson’s can continue to fight back, grow stronger, and thrive.”

Competition added to the evening’s energy, with Josh Zupp finishing first and Caleb Quist second. While race results were recognized, the focus remained on community involvement and support for the program’s broader mission.

Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact fitness program designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, focusing on improving strength, balance, coordination, and overall quality of life through consistent exercise and peer support.

Organizers noted that events such as the 5K continue to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease and reinforce PCMC’s commitment to innovative, community-based wellness programs.

Plans for future Rock Steady Boxing events are already underway as interest and participation continue to grow.
